Controller (Commercial Real Estate)

Overview Our SelectLeaders client is a growing real estate investment and property management organization with a substantial portfolio of residential and commercial assets. The operating structure includes 40+ entities and approximately 100 properties. This role seeks an experienced, highly organized, process-driven Controller / Director of Accounting & Finance to take full ownership of the accounting and finance function. It is a senior leadership position focused on managing day-to-day accounting operations, building scalable systems, leading a department, and guiding the company through its next stage of growth. The right candidate will have the opportunity to become a long-term leader and potential future partner in the organization. Responsibilities Own and manage the company\'s accounting and finance function, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, KPI tracking, and portfolio-level performance analysis. Design and implement department-wide systems and processes; balance strategic oversight with willingness to review details and perform accounting entries when needed. Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve reporting accuracy and speed; develop AI-supported workflows and transition the department to a technology-enabled, AI-assisted operating model. Develop detailed SOPs and process diagrams; ensure timely, clear, and actionable financial reporting for ownership and stakeholders. Manage accounting across 40+ entities and approximately 100 properties; maintain strong controls in a multi-entity environment. Qualifications Deep accounting experience with strong real estate or property management accounting knowledge. Ability to design and implement scalable processes in a multi-entity environment. Experience creating SOPs, process diagrams, and KPIs; capable of providing meaningful, timely financial reporting. Strategic and tactical thinker with the capacity to operate at both high level and hands-on detail, including performing accounting entries when needed. Proven track record of leveraging technology to improve accuracy, efficiency, and automation in accounting functions. #J-18808-Ljbffr Doist
