Schedule Details / Additional Information Department: GI Lab Job Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 36 Schedule: Mon - Fri, 07:30 – 18:00. Combination of 8‑ and 10‑hour shifts. Weeknight, weekend and holiday on‑call. Call rotation: 1 weeknight per week, 1 weekend every 5–6 weeks, and 1–2 holidays per year. Pay Range $20.80 – $39.85 per hour. Surgical Tech Major Responsibilities Provide a clean, safe and efficient area for optimal patient care. Utilize aseptic surgical techniques in preparation of materials, supplies and equipment. Perform all types of procedures and maintain basic knowledge of a variety of procedures. Ensure environmental disinfection, safety and efficiency of the operating room. Set up the room for each case, operate equipment, and return equipment post procedure. Act as Second Assistant as necessary. Notify appropriate staff of equipment and supply problems. Transport patients and/or equipment and supplies. Maintain a specialty cart or item, ensuring its completeness and availability. Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique. Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age‑appropriate care and assess patient needs. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required (Surgical Tech) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hiring, unless otherwise determined. Education Required (Surgical Tech) Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology. Experience Required (Surgical Tech) No experience required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required (Surgical Tech) Knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques and various operating room equipment. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Basic computer proficiency. Maintain annual educational requirements for hospital‑based certifications. GI Tech Major Responsibilities Assist with patient care activities and related services under supervision of registered nurse and/or physician. Assist physicians with accurate retrieval, preservation, labeling and transportation of specimens. Collaborate on safety initiatives such as timeout process, traceability of equipment, and reporting of safety events. Organize and prepare procedure rooms and equipment as specified by each physician. Perform high‑level disinfection and reprocessing of equipment/scopes. Clean, calibrate, operate and perform preventive maintenance on equipment per manufacturer and infection control policies. Document procedures, images, videos and patient charges using endoscope and ultrasound information systems. Assist in inventory management, stock supplies and replace ordered supplies. Perform various clerical duties including answering phones, filing, data entry and scheduling. Perform patient positioning and transporting duties requiring proper lifting techniques. Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age‑appropriate care and assess patient needs. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required (GI Tech) GI Technical Specialist (GTS) certification issued by SGNA, obtained within 6 months. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months, unless otherwise determined. Education Required (GI Tech) High School Graduate. Experience Required (GI Tech) Typically requires 1 year of experience as a nursing assistant, medical assistant or similar patient‑care position. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required (GI Tech) Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Basic computer skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders and twist frequently. Must lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist; up to 20 lbs. over the head; carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. Must push/pull with 30 lbs. of force; perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. Must wear lead aprons with weight resting on shoulders. Must possess speech, hearing, sight, touch and fine motor skill coordination. Must function in limited space with close proximity to other healthcare members and physicians. May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and bodily fluids. Protective clothing worn as necessary. Operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
