Maintenance Technician IThe Maintenance Technician I maintains school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of all district facilities. To accomplish these tasks the Maintenance Technician I must work closely with the staff and administration of Lexington City Schools This job reports to the Supervisor of Maintenance.Essential Functions:Provide maintenance support to schools within the districtPerform basic repairs to facilities and equipment as neededAssist with upkeep of grounds when assignedAssemble furnitureMove furniture between buildings and officesAssist with plumbing, painting and general carpentryInstalls bulletin boards and dry erase boards as neededWork overtime when emergencies arise to prevent the disruption of schoolsPerform additional duties assigned by the Maintenance SupervisorOperate and care for power equipment and hand toolsPerforms work assigned by work ordersPerforms all repairs in a professional and timely mannerMinimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or its equivalentKnowledge of general maintenanceGeneral knowledge in basic carpentry, plumbing is preferredMust be able to follow directions and complete tasks givenPhysical Requirements:This work is considered heavy physical work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of forceEmployees in this position are required to work in all kinds of weather conditionsMust be able to perform under stressful conditionsDISCLAIMER: The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
