When the building wakes, you’re already charting the plan. You scan overnight work orders, prioritize preventive tasks, and head to the floor where conveyors hum, lift trucks await inspection, and banana room equipment demands a precise touch. You move between hydraulic docks and pneumatic lines, swapping tools as easily as you switch from electrical diagnostics to mechanical adjustments. By midday, you’re mentoring a teammate through a tricky repair, reading schematics to trace a fault no one else could see. Before you wrap, you log the day’s work, tidy the grounds, and ensure bathrooms and plumbing are in good order—because a reliable facility starts with the details.

What you’ll tackle

• Execute preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on lift trucks, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, dock and banana room equipment, and a wide range of electronic/electrical assets—following established procedures.
• Operate material handling and powered equipment safely, including battery systems and other moving machinery.
• Interpret technical drawings—blueprints and electronic/mechanical schematics—to diagnose and maintain equipment.
• Complete work orders, logs, and digital records accurately and on time.
• Communicate clearly with associates, suppliers, and internal partners—verbally and in writing.
• Support teammates: assist other maintenance technicians and collaborate to resolve complex, non-obvious equipment issues.
• Care for the facility envelope: grounds, parking lots, fencing, bathrooms, and plumbing.

Physical demands

• Use computers and write reports; read and visually verify small-print information; inspect equipment.
• Climb ladders and stairs; reach above shoulders and below knees; bend, twist, pull, and stoop.
• Lift, move, carry, and place items up to 50 pounds without assistance; apply sideways/upward/downward force to tighten/loosen hardware (e.g., nuts, bolts).
• Lift/push/pull/carry tools and equipment above shoulder height without assistance.
• Differentiate sounds to maintain equipment, identify hazards, and recognize safety alarms.
• Operate motor vehicles or other large powered equipment.
• Use approved equipment to access elevated areas and crossovers to reach opposite sides of conveyors.
• Wear appropriate PPE as required (e.g., fall, eye, hearing, respiratory, chemical, electrical protection, protective footwear).

Work setting

• Indoor and outdoor work for extended periods; heights and elevated spaces; narrow or enclosed pathways.
• Exposure to varying temperatures, extreme heat/cold, and wet, damp, or drafty conditions.
• Sloped, uneven, or slippery surfaces; high-noise areas requiring hearing protection.
• Industrial conditions including elevated noise, strobing lights, and electromagnetic (EM) fields.
• May handle substances that require special handling procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum: 2+ years in industrial maintenance working with electrical, electronics, and mechanical systems (e.g., forklifts, conveyors, building and automated equipment) OR formal coursework/certification in industrial maintenance, electronics, electrical, mechanical automation, mechatronics, or related fields.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree or higher in mechatronics, electronics, or industrial maintenance; certifications such as CRMT (Certified Reliability and Maintenance Technician) or MCET (Master Certified Electronics Technician).
