ASH Hotels, in partnership with local developer Nathalie Jordi, acquired a historic development site nestled in New Orleans' Marigny neighborhood. Hotel Peter and Paul consists of an existing church, rectory, convent, and school buildings steeped in more than a century of local, preservationist heritage. Our hotel offers classic, elegant experiences that defy formulaic guest expectations by entwining enduring church and schoolhouse architecture with eclectic interiors and reimagined environments. Characterized by an unexpected contemporary Louisianan spirit, Peter and Paul enchants all guests with an authentic union of yesteryear's Marigny with today’s New Orleans. The Opportunity We're looking for a People & Culture Manager who understands that the guest experience begins long before anyone checks in. It starts with how our team feels walking through the door each morning. In this role, you'll be the quiet backbone of our hotel, guiding the full employee lifecycle with both precision and heart. You bring deep, current knowledge of Louisiana employment law and HR best practices, and you apply that knowledge not as a gatekeeper, but as a protector of our people, our company, and our culture. From recruiting and onboarding to performance, compliance, the fun celebrations, and offboarding; you handle every touchpoint with care and discretion. You remember names and details, notice when a team member is struggling, and know when a policy needs to flex to meet a human moment. What You'll Do Culture & Team Building Models the company's values and standards of conduct in daily behavior and decision-making Approaches challenges with a solutions-focused mindset, driving issues to resolution rather than dwelling on problems Projects steady, positive energy that supports morale and organizational culture Demonstrates professionalism and integrity that sets the tone for the broader organization Holds self accountable to the same expectations set for employees Handles sensitive employee information, disciplinary matters, and compensation data with strict discretion and confidentiality at all times Lead the development of a workplace culture that reflects Ash Hotels and the character of this property Builds credibility with employees and leadership through consistency, follow-through, and honest communication Serves as a trusted, approachable resource for employees navigating workplace concerns Balances advocacy for employees with the needs of the business, maintaining trust on both sides Lead hiring for all positions across departments, in partnership with department heads and the GM. Deliver an onboarding experience that sets a real tone, not just a checklist. One that makes new team members feel welcomed, oriented, respected, and ready. Build and execute internal programs that support employee growth, recognition, and belonging across all departments. Foster a positive workplace culture through employee feedback and open communication. Partner with department heads to develop their people management skills and build teams that communicate well and take care of each other. People Operations & Compliance Own all HR functions for the property: recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, leave administration, and offboarding. Ensure full compliance with employment law, wage and hour regulations, and mandatory training requirements. Manage leave of absence processes with care and accuracy Maintain accurate, confidential employee records in compliance with Louisiana recordkeeping requirements. Oversee employee benefits, payroll, workers’ compensation, and unemployment claims. Conduct thorough, fair, and timely workplace investigations when concerns arise, documenting findings with care and professionalism. Partner with legal counsel as needed on complex employee relations matters, ensuring the property is protected and people are treated fairly. Maintain the flow of People & Culture documentation and ensure compliance with hotel policies and procedures Qualifications Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Highly organized, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in hospitality or a service-focused environment Knowledge of employee relations practices, including coaching, conflict resolution, performance management, and workplace policies Understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, and employee engagement programs Experience facilitating training, presentations, employee orientations, or group learning sessions preferred Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and HRIS platforms Strong presentation and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee matters with professionalism and discretion HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or willingness to pursue certification) preferred Salary range of $68,000 - $72,000 commensurate with experience Eligible to enroll in Medical, dental, and vision insurance with generous company contribution to monthly premium after 60 days of employment Eligible to enroll in Voluntary Long-Term, Short-Term Disability Plans, Life Insurance, Accident and Critical Illness Plans, Pet Insurance after 60 days of employment 401(k) retirement plan with employer match after 90 days of employment Annual Paid time off: 10 vacation days, 4 Personal Days Louisiana mandated paid sick leave Opportunities for growth within ASH Hotels Ash provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other legally protected status.
