Production Operator - Chemical Blending Position Snapshot Location: Pearland, TX (on-site) Pay: $25.00-$30.00/hr based on years of experience Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; overtime required as needed Reports to: Production Supervisor Status: Full‑time, non-exempt (direct hire) About the Role Our client, a growing, family‑owned chemical packaging and containerizing manufacturer in Pearland, TX, is hiring a Production Operator - Chemical Blending to safely blend, transfer and containerize its hazardous and nonhazardous chemical products. This is a senior operator role focused mainly on blending, with some manual containerization. The site runs no chemical reactions, and some of its blending processes are PSM-covered. You'll work with proprietary formulations, monitor and adjust process conditions to keep product in spec, troubleshoot equipment and process problems, and give technical support on the floor. It's an individual contributor role with no supervisory duties. Responsibilities Production Operations Operate and monitor blend tanks, mixers, pumps, transfer systems and other plant equipment. Measure, weigh, transfer, store and mix raw materials and chemicals according to batch sheets and SOPs. Verify raw materials, packaging materials and production documents before starting production. Track temperature, pressure, flow and levels, and adjust within established operating parameters to keep product in spec. Analyze process data and make adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency. Perform equipment startups, shutdowns and product changeovers following operating procedures. Manually fill, containerize and label finished product as needed to support production. Read tank levels using telemetry or tank strapping. Follow production schedules and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Complete logs, batch records and inspection forms accurately on tablets and paper logs. Protect the confidentiality of proprietary formulations, manufacturing processes and intellectual property. Process Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Technical Support Monitor equipment performance and identify process deviations, malfunctions and abnormal operating conditions. Perform basic troubleshooting and corrective actions within established procedures. Report equipment issues, production delays, quality concerns and process abnormalities to supervision. Quality & Compliance Follow SOPs, batch instructions and quality requirements. Perform in-process inspections and quality checks to confirm products meet specifications. Verify measurements, calculations and production data for accuracy. Complete production, quality and inventory documentation accurately. Report nonconforming materials, products and process deviations to management. Support quality improvement, corrective action, process validation, product trials and manufacturing improvements as assigned. Safety & Environmental Follow all safety procedures for handling hazardous and nonhazardous materials. Wear required PPE, including gloves, safety glasses, goggles, respirators and protective clothing. Understand and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical handling procedures. Respond to spills, leaks and chemical releases according to established procedures. Comply with OSHA, environmental, Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements for covered blending processes, and company safety requirements. Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses and injuries to supervision immediately. Store, handle and dispose of hazardous materials and waste according to company procedures and regulations. Participate in safety meetings, training programs and emergency response drills. Equipment Care & Housekeeping Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance as assigned. Clean and sanitize production equipment, work areas and tools following established procedures. Keep the work area organized and support good housekeeping throughout the facility. Help maintain production supply inventory and notify supervision of material shortages. Requirements High school diploma or GED. 2+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing or processing (4+ years preferred). Experience operating industrial equipment such as pumps, mixers, tanks, transfer systems or packaging equipment. Hands‑on experience handling hazardous chemicals (required). Experience reading procedures and recording production data on tablets and paper logs. Commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance. Attention to detail and accuracy when measuring, filling, labeling and documenting products. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn new production equipment. Ability to work well as part of a team. Forklift certification required. HAZWOPER training, respirator fit testing and medical clearance required; these can be completed after hire. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in a warehouse and production area that isn’t climate‑controlled and can get warm. Preferred Qualifications 4+ years of chemical manufacturing or processing experience. Chemical blending or batch processing experience. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
