County Caseworker 1 (Perry County, PA) Salary: $38,875.20 annually Location: New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania 17068 Job type: Civil Service Permanent Full-Time
THE POSITION
County Caseworker 1 at Perry County Children & Youth is a chance to make a real difference for families in your community. This role gives you the opportunity to support children and guide families toward safer and stronger futures. You will grow your skills while doing work that truly matters every day.DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on helping children, youth, and families through important social services and support. You will guide families through challenges and connect them with needed resources. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties: Service Planning: Conduct intake assessments, document information, and determine risk using the approved assessment model Safety Investigations: Investigate reports of child mistreatment or abuse and ensure the safety of children involved Family Support Visits: Complete monthly home visits and help develop family service plans Placement Monitoring: Manage out of home placements through monthly visits and family contact Record Maintenance: Maintain detailed and accurate family files Completion of the Core Training series for County Caseworkers and Caseworker Certification is required to be completed after employment begins. Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday – Friday, with a 1‑hour lunch. This position is included in a 24‑hour on‑call rotation schedule. QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework that includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or A bachelor’s degree that includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in the same fields and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions. Applicants who are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits are considered to have met the educational requirements. Other Requirements: PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI fingerprint clearance.
