The H71 Digestive Disease General Surgery Unit at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus provides world-class care for patients needing many complex abdominal surgeries, including Total Abdominal Reconstruction, Whipple, HIPEC, MAL’s, Bowl Resection, Gastrectomy, Splenectomy, Liver Resection, Fistula Maintenance and Repair, and Pancreatectomy. Patients come to our unit from all over the world seeking our expertise in surgical intervention and care. As Assistant Nurse Manager, you will support the nurse manager by providing clinical supervision and unit coordination. This position offers a great way to gain extensive leadership experience while continuing to provide the best support and treatment possible.

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period, and every other holiday rotation requirements.

\n

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

\n

\n
• Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations.  
\n

\n

\n
• Provide patient care.  
\n

\n

\n
• Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units.  
\n

\n

\n
• Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.  
\n

\n

\n
• Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions and monitor attendance issues. 
\n

\n

\n
• Interview, select and orient new caregivers.  
\n
• Monitor the adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines.
\n

\n

\n
• Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.  
\n

\n

\n
• Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies and research initiatives.  
\n
• Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs
\n

\n

\n
• Assume responsibilities of the Nurse Manager in their absence.  
\n

\n
\n

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

\n

\n
• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing  
\n

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
\n

\n

\n
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 
\n

\n

\n
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross  
\n

\n

\n
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of employment
\n
• Two years of recent clinical nursing experience  
\n
• Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills  
\n

\n
\n

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Cleveland Clinic experience
\n
• Med/Surg experience 
\n

\n
\n

Physical Requirements:

\n

\n
• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
\n
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
\n
• Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
\n
• Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
\n
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
\n
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
\n

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

\n

\n

Minimum hourly: $39.50

\n

\n

Maximum hourly: $59.60

\n

The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
