Tech - Sterile Processing Tech

Job Summary:
Processes and sterilizes surgical and hospital instruments and equipment to ensure safety and operational readiness. Supports surgical teams by assembling instrument sets and distributing supplies efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Decontaminates and processes instruments, including compiling sets and recording counts to maintain accuracy.
• Sterilizes instruments, trays, and basins using appropriate exposure and drying times.
• Prepares instruments for immediate use sterilization when necessary to meet surgical timelines.
• Maintains a clean and organized environment by daily cleaning of counters, sinks, autoclaves, and high disinfection equipment.
• Performs diagnostic testing on sterilizing equipment, including biological indicators and cycle evaluations.
• Assists with room turnover, terminal cleaning of operating suites, and responds to departmental needs as directed.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree preferred.
• Current Sterile Processing Technician certification required.
• At least two years of recent experience in sterile processing or related field.
• Current BLS certification required; valid nursing license as per state requirements preferred.
• Demonstrates knowledge of sterilization procedures, infection control standards, and equipment maintenance.
