The Chief Quality & Value Office at MD Anderson Cancer Center is focused on advancing clinical quality, value, and outcomes across the institution and Cancer Network. The team partners with clinical, operational, and data stakeholders to develop meaningful quality measures, evaluate outcomes, and translate clinical data into actionable insights that support better care and organizational performance.
•Support the development, maintenance, and refinement of clinical quality metrics aligned with institutional goals and reporting requirements.
•Assist in translating clinical workflows and electronic health record data into measurable outcomes and reporting specifications.
•Contribute to initiatives such as Patient Reported Outcomes, cancer-specific metrics, and quality reporting programs.
•Serve as a technical resource in data abstraction, metric development, and validation activities across teams. Project Coordination & Implementation (30%)
•Support quality improvement projects, including defining measures, tracking timelines, and documenting progress.
•Collaborate with stakeholders to implement workflow adjustments that align clinical practice with quality and reporting objectives.
•Assist in monitoring project outcomes using baseline and post-intervention data and contribute to sustainability tracking.
•Prepare updates, summaries, and reports for stakeholders as needed. Data Reporting & Operational Support (20%)
•Coordinate quarterly reporting processes for core quality metrics (e.g., LOS, mortality, 30-day readmissions, 7-day readmissions), ensuring data is compiled, validated, and submitted accurately.
•Serve as lead and support ongoing reporting by coordinating with internal stakeholders and external resources (e.g., Vizient SMEs) to support Cancer Network reporting needs.[KL1]
•Maintain supporting documentation, datasets, and reporting artifacts to ensure transparency and consistency across reporting cycles.
•Partner with team members to transition documentation and knowledge related to core quality metrics and discipline-specific metrics.
•Provide project management support for efforts to define and document roles and responsibilities for data management within the Cancer Network.
•Identify and communicate gaps in ownership and support interim solutions to ensure continuity of reporting and metric maintenance activities. EDUCATION Required: Bachelor's Degree Business, Healthcare Administration or related field. Preferred: Master's Degree In related field. WORK EXPERIENCE Required: 5 years Performance improvement, research or consultant experience, to include survey methodology, data base research and statistical analysis or 3 years experience required with Master's degree. This Project Consultant, Outcomes position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of clinical data, quality measurement, and project coordination. The role is ideal for a detail-oriented healthcare professional who understands clinical workflows and electronic health record data and enjoys working across teams to turn complex information into meaningful quality and outcomes measures.
In this role, you will support the development, maintenance, and refinement of clinical quality metrics aligned with institutional goals and reporting requirements. You will help translate clinical workflows and EHR data into measurable outcomes and reporting specifications, contribute to Patient Reported Outcomes and cancer-specific metrics, and serve as a technical resource for data abstraction, metric development, and validation activities. You will also support quality improvement projects from planning through implementation, helping define measures, track timelines, document progress, and coordinate workflow changes with clinical and operational stakeholders. You will monitor baseline and post-intervention data, contribute to sustainability tracking, and prepare clear updates, summaries, and reports to keep stakeholders informed of project progress and outcomes. A key component of the position is quality data reporting and operational coordination. You will coordinate quarterly reporting for core quality metrics such as length of stay, mortality, and 30-day and 7-day readmissions, ensuring data is accurately compiled, validated, and submitted. You will also support Cancer Network reporting needs by coordinating with internal stakeholders and external resources, maintaining reporting documentation and datasets, and helping ensure continuity and consistency across reporting cycles. This position will also contribute to the development and organization of data management processes across the Cancer Network. You will help define and document roles and responsibilities, identify gaps in ownership, and support interim solutions that keep critical reporting and metric maintenance activities moving forward. Strong organization, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively across clinical, operational, and data teams will be essential. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Healthcare, or a related field and at least five years of clinical data experience, including three years of project or program coordination in a healthcare setting. Experience working with clinical workflows and electronic health record data is required, while a master's degree and clinical experience or RN licensure are preferred.
