Management Intern

Position Overview

Under general supervision of the Assistant City Manager, the purpose of this position is to provide technical and/or administrative support for a variety of departmental functions across the organization.

Essential Functions

• Assists with various work assignments from as many areas of the organization as practical.
• Attend department meetings, observing, and make public presentations.
• Complete reading assignments and other relevant work activities as assigned.
• Provides research support, assemble information, compile statistics, and prepare reports.
• Maintains good employee relations through timely and accurate response to questions and concerns; responds to sensitive issues while maintaining complete confidentiality.
• Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
• Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a Master of Public Administration Program with the goal of obtaining a MPA degree.
• Completion of at least one semester of MPA courses with a focus in local government management is preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State of Texas Driver's License.

Typical Working Hours

The average work schedule will be 20 hours per week.
