Clayton Services is searching for a Shipping and Receiving Clerk to join a thriving company in North Houston. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be responsible for coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments, loading and unloading materials, tagging inventory, and maintaining an organized shipping and receiving area.
Job Type: Temp-to-HirePay Rate: $22.00-$24.00/hour
Benefits: Excellent benefits are available after the successful completion of the temporary period, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) w/ match, PTO, and more. Shipping and Receiving Clerk Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and communicate with logistics personnel, sales representatives, service providers, and other parties involved in shipping and receiving activities.
- Load and unload incoming containers and outgoing truckload shipments.
- Handle parts, compressors, equipment, and assembled systems safely and efficiently.
- Open and secure the facility gate for scheduled deliveries and outgoing shipments.
- Tag parts and compressors according to established company requirements.
- Assist the parts sales team with inventory and shipment-related needs.
- Use hand tools and power tools as required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shipping and receiving area.
- Follow all established shop procedures and safety guidelines.
- Accurately clock in and out using the company's designated timekeeping system.
- Work overtime and occasional weekends when required by workload.
- Perform additional duties assigned by management.
Shipping and Receiving Clerk Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand or remain stationary for extended periods.
- Ability to climb and descend ladders safely.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds.
- Forklift training and the ability to operate a forklift safely.
Shipping and Receiving Clerk Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to two years of shipping and receiving experience required.
- Forklift training or certification required.
- Experience loading and unloading trucks, containers, or industrial equipment is preferred.
