Exciting Opportunities with Share Food Program! We are looking for a Warehouse Laborer (Part-Time/ Temporary) to add to our team!

Share Food Program (“Share”) is the leading hunger relief organization in the Greater Philadelphia region and one of the largest independent food banks in the nation. Share feeds hundreds of thousands of individuals each month—more than half of whom are children and seniors. The ripple effects of the pandemic, record rates of inflation, and critical cuts to government assistance benefits have plunged even more people into hunger and poverty. Philadelphia has the second highest rate of poverty of any major city in the U.S., and food insecurity is a public health crisis. Our network of caring volunteers, dedicated professionals, and generous donors works to bring nourishing food to our neighbors in need.

Since 2022, the need for Share's services has increased by 120% and the need will only increase with the passage of recent legislation. Share is committed to being at the forefront of advocacy fighting against these policies and ensuring everyone has access to food. Funding for advocacy and expanding its major donor program are strategic goals for Share. Furthermore, Share has successfully completed two stages of its capital campaign to expand and revolutionize its Philadelphia warehouse headquarters at the heart of Share's operations, to help more neighbors in need.

Position Overview

A warehouse laborer is a ****physically active role focused on the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of goods. Key daily duties include loading and unloading freight, manually moving inventory, operating pallet jacks, picking and packing orders, and maintaining a clean and safe distribution facility.

Core Job Functions and Responsibilities:

• Manually moving freight or using equipment to load/unload delivery trucks and shipping containers.
• Retrieving items from warehouse shelves based on pick sheets, packing them securely, and preparing orders for dispatch.
• Organizing stock in designated areas, labeling items, and assisting with physical inventory counts to verify quantities.
• Safely operating manual or powered pallet jacks, forklifts, or hand trucks.
• Sweeping floors, disposing of packing materials (like shrink wrap and cardboard), and keeping work aisles clear of hazards.
• Additional duties as required

Preferred Experience:

• Proven experience working in warehousing, manufacturing, or production
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of orders, basic math skills for inventory counts, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong work ethic and punctuality a must
• Hands on work experience

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires standing or walking up to 75% of the time
• Position requires repetitive motion
• Physical Stamina: The ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs regularly, as well as stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

Environmental Risks:

• Position includes potential exposure to fumes, loud noises, vibration, extreme temperature, allergens, and confined spaces up to 100% of the time.

Compensation/ Schedule

• $20.00 per hour/ 29 hours per week, M-F
• Part-Time/ Temporary position
