Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 Year Preferred License: AK RN License in Hand Required for Auto Offer Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Able to complete AK RN license application within 48 hours of signing. - First timers accepted. - Weekend coverage could be more frequent than every other and is subject to staffing needs. Description: The position requires a Registered Nurse to work in a Progressive Care Unit. This unit cares for a wide variety of patient populations. The nursing model utilized includes a bedside RN and a virtual RN for each patient. Patient ratios are 1:4 for RNs and 1:6 for CNAs. The virtual nurse assists with admissions, discharges, rounding, education, and safety rounds. The patient population includes 30% cardiac patients, such as those with heart failure, myocardial infarctions, and various post-operative conditions. Respiratory patients, including those with COVID, flu, COPD, and asthma exacerbations, are also prevalent in this unit. The unit serves as an overflow for neuro and renal patients. Registered Nurses may be responsible for managing complex medical-surgical patients requiring close monitoring. The facility is a Magnet facility and a certified Level II Trauma center. Support services include IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. The nursing staff will need to demonstrate proficiency in various clinical skills and nursing protocols. Candidates should be prepared to float to lower acuity units and different specialties as needed. Time off will be considered on an individual basis upon offer and should be included in the initial submission. All requests for time off must be made upfront during the hiring process. Inflexibility with the schedule or time-off requests may lead to contract termination. Two references covering recent experience are required before starting the position.
