Job Title: Registered Nurse - ER Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years of Emergency Department experience License: Active Nursing License Required Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS PALS or ENP CPI or MOAB TNCC (preferred) Must-Have: Traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival. NGT tube insertion IV starts Chest tube management Defibrillation Splinting Stroke/NIHSS experience ICU medication management Must be comfortable holding admitted patients in the emergency department as well as having hall bed assignments. Description: This position involves working in a busy emergency department environment. The facility is equipped for acute stroke and chest pain cases, with a total of 325 licensed beds. Emergency Department has 22 beds plus a 7-bed fast-track area. The department sees approximately 120 patients daily, ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. Patient conditions include cardiac issues, diabetes, renal failure, infectious diseases, and trauma. Staffing ratios are RN: 1:3-4 and include dedicated CNAs and techs per shift. Support in the department includes a charge nurse who may or may not have patient assignments, unit clerks, and available phlebotomy for lab draws. There are medical professionals on-site 24/7, including respiratory therapists and radiology services. The facility utilizes an electronic medical record system for charting. Scheduling includes a rotation for weekends, where every other weekend is mandatory. Night shifts typically work 7 on/7 off, with the potential for other shift rotations. Holiday expectations include working 2 out of 3 major holidays. Employees must wear specified scrub colors and have specific requirements for attire.
