POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day accounting functions of MasTec Civil and related companies, including establishing and maintaining principles, practices, procedures and initiatives.

Responsibilities

PAYROLL

* Review and validate employee timesheets for accurate hours, pay types, employee classifications, job costing, project allocations, and prevailing wage requirements.

* Identify and resolve missing, incomplete, duplicate, or incorrect time entries before payroll processing deadlines.

* Assist with payroll processing, including new hires, terminations, rate changes, retroactive adjustments, transfers, off-cycle payments, and final pay.

* Assist with payroll taxes, deductions, garnishments, benefits, fringe benefits, allowances, paid time off, holiday pay, and other earnings in accordance with applicable regulations and Company policies.

* Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for government-funded projects in compliance with the Davis-Bacon Act and applicable state prevailing wage requirements.

* Maintain prevailing wage payroll information, including employee classifications, wage rates, fringe calculations, deductions, and required reporting.

* Review payroll registers, exception reports, labor distributions, and reconciliations to verify completeness and accuracy.

* Ensure payroll labor and burden costs are assigned to the correct company, project, task, phase, cost code, department, and general ledger account.

* Prepare and distribute payroll, labor cost, and compliance reports for project teams, management, Human Resources, Finance, and other authorized users.

* Assist with federal, state, and local payroll tax filings, year-end reconciliations, W-2 processing, corrections, and other required reporting.

* Maintain complete payroll records, respond to payroll inquiries, research discrepancies, process authorized corrections, and provide supporting documentation.

* Support workers compensation, unemployment, payroll tax, benefit, internal, and external audits by preparing reconciliations and requested documentation.

* Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including payroll accruals, journal entry support, account reconciliations, and audit schedules.

* Participate in ERP implementation activities.

Qualifications

Work Experience and Education

Associates degree (A. A.) from college or university preferred or equivalent experience

• Construction related industry experience is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
• Strong computer skills, including high proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of ViewPoint Vista or Oracle preferred

• Proficient communication, interpersonal and organization skills along with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy and professionalism

• Ability to handle multiple tasks with simultaneous deadlines and prioritize workload in a fast-paced dynamic environment

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to interact with multiple personalities at all levels within the organization

• Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public
