Overview Certified First Assistant at Saint Thomas Surgicare. A surgical first assistant plays a vital role in a successful surgical procedure. They are primarily in charge of assisting surgeons, such as arranging and handing over tools, holding open incisions, and dressing surgical wounds. Responsibilities Assist surgeons during procedures by preparing and handing over instruments and supplies. Hold or assist with incisions and dress surgical wounds as directed. Support the surgical team to ensure a safe and efficient operative environment.
