Registered Nurse (RN) Infection Preventionist

Role Overview: The RN Infection Preventionist evaluates resident care quality related to Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and Community Acquired Infections (CAI), ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and standards. They collect, analyze, and present infection data, recommending actions to improve outcomes. They monitor staff adherence to infection control measures, provide education to staff, residents, and families, and serve as a resource across departments. Qualifications & Skills Nursing diploma (associate's or bachelor's degree) and active RN license CPR certification (maintained during employment) Specialized infection prevention training; experience with geriatrics preferred Certifications per state requirements (e.g., Certified TB Nurse) Knowledge of infection control practices, laws, and regulations Ability to make independent decisions and interpret infection control programs Professional relationship building, confidentiality, and adherence to policies Key Responsibilities Monitor compliance with infection prevention standards and public health advisories Serve as the onsite IPC for COVID-19 prevention and response Develop and oversee the Antibiotic Stewardship Program Maintain current knowledge of infection control trends and practices Perform all duties within the scope of licensure and professional standards Ensure confidentiality and uphold professional integrity and conduct Note: The role requires onsite work at the physical facility, not off-site consulting.
