Job Description The Information School Admissions team has an outstanding opportunity for a Graduate Enrollment Advisor to join their team. About this Opportunity Reporting to the Enrollment Advising Manager, the Graduate Enrollment Advisor is responsible for developing and supporting the recruiting and outreach activities for all Information School graduate programs. This role serves as a primary point of contact and advisor to prospective graduate students as they choose a program that best fits their goals and seek admission to the Information School. This is a hybrid position with an expectation to work on-site at the UW Seattle campus at least two days per week; the remaining days may be worked remotely, with supervisor approval. Schedule flexibility is required to support evening or weekend school/university events, typically a few times per year. Advance notice will be provided, when possible, for any required schedule adjustments related to special events or programming needs. Key Responsibilities Recruiting & Outreach for Degree Programs (50%) Engage prospective students to understand their interests, match them with iSchool programs, and guide them through the application process. Plan, coordinate, and conduct information sessions for prospective MLIS, PhD, and MSIM students; support academic program advisors as needed. Represent the iSchool at community events, conferences, and national/international recruiting opportunities. Partner with IDEAS, Alumni Relations, and peer advisors to connect prospective students with current students and alumni for mentoring. Advise international prospective students on the transition to studying in the U.S. Academic Advising for Graduate Programs (30%) Meet one-on-one with prospective students and applicants to advise on iSchool degree programs, disciplines, and the application process; refer to faculty for advanced discipline-specific questions as needed. Stay current on campus and community resources, as well as student funding opportunities, to support prospective students in their decision to apply. Review and evaluate applications across all Information School graduate programs. Communication and Information Dissemination (10%) Contribute to the development of communications plans, template emails, and messaging that supports prospective students through the admissions process. Identify recurring questions or challenges among prospective students and collaborate with the Enrollment Advising Manager and Admissions Operations Manager to develop strategies and improve broad outreach communications. Additional Responsibilities (10%) Interpret and apply University and iSchool policies related to admissions for students, faculty, and staff. Attend and actively participate in team, committee, and University meetings, events, and initiatives. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on industry trends and best practices. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Information Management or a related field. Minimum of 3 years experience in student counseling or teaching, or equivalent education/experience. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Manager. Additional Qualifications Experience in program planning and management, preferably student services. Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations. Demonstrated ability to communicate and present well in writing, verbally, and via technology. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications Experience using UW systems such as MyGradProgram (MGP) and Student Database (SDB). Familiarity with Slate. Familiarity with video/web conferencing technology such as Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. Familiarity with the University of Washington and its academic community, policies and processes, including fee-based programs and Continuum College. Working Conditions Travel both nationally and internationally may be required through out the year. Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required based on program scheduling. Ability to lift packages of 20 lbs. when setting up events and moving materials.
