Inventory Control Specialist

The Company

Quest Window Systems Inc ("Quest") is a manufacturer of a window wall system designed for high-rise residential developments, based in Toronto, Ontario Canada. Quest services clients from all over North America, including major metropolises such as New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and Toronto.

Purpose: This position is responsible for controlling and securing material and timely delivery of to respective departments. Works closely with Materials manager to ensure daily stock and inventory control accuracy.

Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Must Have Responsibilities

• Follow all required safety practices, guidelines and company procedures
• Keep your work area, inside the factory and the Quest grounds safe, clean, and organized at all times
• Report all safety incidents immediately to your direct manager or member of Safety Team
• Maintain good attendance and be at your work area prior to the shift start bell
• Take breaks at designated times and do not leave your work area before the horn end of shift bell
• Be able to work in a team environment
• Provide support and train other team members as instructed
• Learn and understand Lean Manufacturing concepts
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of product, processes and customer expectations
• Monitor the quality of output to identify, discard or re-manufacture faulty products
• Perform related or other responsibilities as required or assigned to meet customer and production requirements
• Perform any and all reasonable requests from management

Additional Responsibilities

• Unpacks delivery shipments and compares packing lists to purchase orders, ensuring accurate deliveries
• Receives raw material inventory in Quest Windows online inventory management system ensuring data entry matches invoice/packing slips to support inventory and accounting accuracy
• Safely operate and maintain all available material handling equipment (scissor lift, shop dolly, etc....) in adherence with training procedures and policies
• Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to process orders (outbound/inbound)
• Assists in maintaining accurate inventory counts by performing daily cycle counts of locations and parts; monitoring put-away activities and research inventory discrepancies found during picking
• Ensure all materials are on hand and deliver materials to assigned production line in a timely manner for project execution/completion
• Maintain and attached paperwork of all purchases to the appropriate work orders
• Calculate and total materials purchased for each project work order
• Facilitate the flow of materials to and from various work sites or departments
• Responsible for inspecting materials for both quality and quantity
• Maintain daily inventory of purchased and surplus materials
• Maintain files of purchases for all projects
• Verify job requirements with proper personnel prior to procuring needed materials
• Inform supervisor of any known problems with inventory/material in a timely manner
• Always communicate effectively with department managers and all other personnel in a professional manner
• Maintain the organizations inventory, ordering and supplying necessary items while maintaining accurate records of all procurement
• Provide inventory reports to purchasing and materials Manager
• Conduct frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory
• Assist with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits

Required Qualification and Skills:

• Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Ability to frequently lift, push, and slide product that typically may weigh up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand for duration of shift
• Able to work in a non-climate-controlled factory environment
• Highest attention to the quality of work performed
• English communication skills - oral and written
• Basic math skills including the ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, divide and read a standard tape measure
• Be willing to learn and rotate through multiple positions as business needs require
• Pre-employment background check & drug screening are required
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including some overtime and weekends
• 3 to 5 years proven work experience in materials management and cycle counting
• Excellent data entry and Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualification and Skills:

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent education
• Power Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification preferred

Shift Schedule: 6am-2:30pm (ability to work flexible hours)
