Job Category: REHABILITATIVE SERVICES Requisition Number: SPEEC026354 Posted: July 2, 2026 Part-Time On-site Location Latrobe, PA, USA Description Job Summary A Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) performs evaluations and establishes plans of care for patients based on age‑specific considerations and patient/family goals. Evaluations and treatments are delivered across various treatment areas within the system. The SLP continuously assesses the treatment program and patient discharge needs, recommending changes as appropriate. The SLP participates actively in work processes, program development to enhance the work environment, and other duties as assigned. Uses time efficiently and effectively while adhering to scheduling and productivity guidelines. Staff schedules require flexibility, including potential weekend and evening hours, to meet demand in the primary area or across the system. Promotes and attends community outreach events as needed. Essential Job Functions Engage in LEAN methodology for process improvement. Participate in daily meetings and use of “Just‑do‑its” and A3’s as appropriate. Develop awareness and understanding of department objectives on the CI board and participate in collecting data for the board. Participate in LEAN projects as assigned. Follow standard work as set for the position. Attend LEAN 101 and other LEAN functions/training as assigned. Document on white boards in patient rooms to improve interdisciplinary communication and continuity of care where applicable. Understand and uphold the mission, vision, and values of the organization, demonstrating adherence to all aspects of the Excela Credo. Perform clinical responsibilities effectively and efficiently. Complete evaluations within appropriate time frames per policy. Set goals with measurable outcomes and appropriate time frames. Recommend discontinuation of treatment when appropriate. Initiate discussions with physicians and other medical team members to alter therapeutic programs as needed. Demonstrate appropriate use of various treatment modalities. Adhere to ethical and legal practice standards. Abide by relevant ethical codes and practice guidelines. Comply with state and federal laws and regulations, including state licensure laws. Report concerns to rehab leadership or compliance line as appropriate. Maintain accurate, concise, timely, and legible records per system, IT, and payer policies. Document therapy care in EMR including evaluations, treatments, patient progress, education, family conferences, discharge planning, and summaries. Complete reassessments at appropriate intervals and document accordingly. Communicate post‑discharge needs to appropriate resources. Document patient care consistent with agency and payer guidelines. Educate patients and families clearly and appropriately. Involve patients and families in establishing a plan of care. Provide educational materials as needed. Document education and training and patient/family achievement. Capture maximum revenue for quality services while maintaining care standards. Utilize CPT and CDM codes appropriately. Maintain adherence to efficiency standards. Check charging accuracy before finalizing documentation. Secure proper authorization with insurance providers as indicated. Ensure treatments do not exceed covered dates. Promote continual performance improvement. Show initiative for improvement within the department and across Excela Health. Identify improvement needs and discuss with manager. Collaborate with patients, families, and other health team members. Communicate regularly via verbal, written, and electronic methods. Attend interdisciplinary team meetings when indicated. Attend required staff meetings; if absent, review minutes. Participate in ongoing development of therapy programs. Attend appropriate internal or external education opportunities. Research innovative ideas and discuss with managers and peers. Implement self‑directed professional development. Reflect on strengths and limitations and seek guidance as needed. Engage in continuing education: lectures, conferences, courses. Develop and conduct in‑service training when appropriate. Uphold fiscal and operational responsibility. Use supplies and equipment responsibly. Maximize utilization of non‑direct patient care time. Report accurate hours worked. Travel to other sites within the system if required. Flexibility with scheduling, including evening and weekend hours, to meet system needs. Supervise students as appropriate. Other duties as assigned. Specialty Functions Obtain authorizations in conjunction with revenue specialist. Document G codes as mandated by insurance. Understand and apply insurance documentation, authorization, and billing frameworks. Report census changes or volume impacts on clinic productivity to leadership. Required Qualifications Graduate level program in Speech Pathology accredited by the American Speech‑Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). Strong leadership, organization, independent and critical thinking, sound judgment. Excellent verbal and written communication, capable of conveying complex concepts to diverse audiences. Strong time management; ability to work independently and in teams; creativity in treatment across inpatient, skilled nursing, and outpatient settings; flexibility in scheduling. Proficient oral and written communication skills. Basic working knowledge of computers and office equipment. Preferred Qualifications Clinical experience performing and interpreting modified barium swallow tests. 1–3 years’ experience in a healthcare setting. SLP‑D certification. License, Certification & Clearances Current PA State Licensure. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology; or be in the Clinical Fellowship Year with eligibility for licensure. If CFY eligible, obtain CCC within two years of hire. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification including CPR and AED. Act 33 with renewal. Act 34 with renewal. Act 73 FBI Clearance. Supervisory Responsibilities Position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but serves as a coach and mentor for other positions. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotating shifts, standby, on‑call, etc.).
