Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a clinical practitioner responsible for coordinating and implementing patient care tailored to the specific age and needs of the patient population within the assigned unit. This role ensures the delivery of quality care in an efficient and safe manner, aligning with established standards of care. The RN exemplifies performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization. Additionally, the RN demonstrates effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice while treating colleagues, physicians, patients, and families with respect and consideration.

Key Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of the applicable competencies related to leadership, both for self and others.
• Obtain and document initial patient assessments, establishing priorities based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
• Systematically re-assess patients to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
• Develop and implement measurable individualized care plans within established timeframes.
• Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on the evaluation of patient outcomes and modify care plans accordingly.
• Participate in health education for patients and significant others, as well as discharge planning.
• Implement and document timely interventions suitable for patient needs.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans.
• Perform various Point of Care testing procedures as necessary.

Requirements

Education and Skills

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age/type of patient population served.
• Knowledgeable and sensitive to patients' rights in delivering care.
• Effective communication skills, adapting language to the developmental age of patients.

Experience

• Newly hired nurses with two or less years of Registered Nurse experience will begin at the entry-level status.
• Consideration for higher clinical ladder levels may be given based on relevant experience, national professional nursing certification, and additional nursing education such as a BSN or MSN.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.

Work Schedule

This position requires 4, 10-hour shifts. The work schedule includes 2 weekends per month with call responsibilities. Floating within surgical services is required.

Dress Code

Graphite Gray scrubs are required for this position.
