About the Role As a Transportation Coordinator, you’ll help ensure campers, staff, volunteers, and program partners get where they need to go safely and efficiently. You’ll coordinate transportation plans, communicate with families and staff, organize vehicles and drivers, and provide hands‑on support for trips and transportation needs across True Friends camp locations. This is an active, fast‑paced role for someone who is organized, dependable, comfortable driving, and enjoys working with people. Where You Could Work Camp Friendship | Annandale, MN **Primary location Camp Courage | Maple Lake, MN Camp staff may work at one, two, or all three of our camp locations during the summer, depending on program needs, assignment, and availability. You don't have to live near a True Friends site to apply! Our Counselor positions are residential and include on‑site housing and meals during employment, making this a great opportunity for individuals who live outside the immediate area, including those from other states! What You’ll Do Your responsibilities may include: Coordinate transportation for campers, staff, volunteers, and program partners Develop and communicate transportation plans and schedules Coordinate off‑site transportation by communicating with families, partner groups, bus drivers, and staff Assign and oversee staff supporting transportation needs Coordinate vehicles and assist with transportation for day trips, special activities, and other off‑site needs Assist with transportation to and from airports, bus stations, train stations, and other travel locations for summer staff Organize, label, load, and unload camper and staff luggage Support weekend and free‑time activity options that require off‑site transportation Maintain positive and professional relationships with campers, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners Maintain accurate notes in camper files and other applicable records Collect and manage transportation‑related payments as needed Make fiscally responsible transportation decisions and communicate concerns to leadership Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report maintenance or safety concerns to appropriate personnel Use organizational systems to track transportation information and schedules Perform other duties as assigned Why You’ll Love It Keep camp moving: Help make sure campers, staff, and programs get where they need to be Stay active: Spend your summer on the move rather than behind a desk Solve problems: Help coordinate moving parts and find solutions when plans change Make a difference: Help create safe and accessible opportunities for campers to participate in activities and experiences Work across True Friends: Build relationships with staff, families, volunteers, and community partners across multiple locations What You’ll Gain Logistics and coordination experience: Build practical experience managing schedules, transportation plans, vehicles, people, and changing priorities Professional communication skills: Gain experience communicating with families, staff, volunteers, drivers, community partners, and other stakeholders Problem‑solving experience: Learn to adapt quickly and make thoughtful decisions when transportation plans or program needs change Customer service experience: Develop skills in providing professional, responsive support to campers, families, and organizational partners Operations experience: Gain exposure to scheduling, recordkeeping, payment tracking, vehicle coordination, and day‑to‑day program operations Independence and responsibility: Take ownership of an important function that directly impacts the success of camp programs Transferable career skills: Build experience that can support future opportunities in transportation, logistics, operations, hospitality, recreation, human services, and other people‑focused fields Schedule Full‑time seasonal position, typically May through August Approximately 30–40 hours per week Schedule may include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and occasionally early mornings based on transportation needs Schedule may vary based on camper travel, program schedules, staff transportation, and other organizational needs Position requires travel between True Friends locations and other destinations as needed What You’ll Bring to the Table Must be at least 21 years of age Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record Ability to pass the required motor vehicle record check Ability to pass the required organizational background study Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Dependable, responsible, and able to manage multiple transportation needs Ability to communicate effectively with families, staff, volunteers, drivers, and community members Enthusiasm for working with individuals with disabilities and their families, caregivers, and support networks Ability to work effectively as part of a team Ability to use or learn computer, word processing, database, and scheduling systems Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to adapt when plans change Willingness to take initiative and support the needs of the program Work Environment & Physical Requirements This is an active position that involves driving, travel, and working in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments. Staff should be prepared to: Drive vehicles for extended periods and travel between True Friends locations and other destinations Work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions Sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and move throughout the workday Lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds, including luggage and supplies See, hear, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Use hands and fingers to operate vehicles, tools, computers, and other equipment Assist campers with mobility, luggage, and other transportation‑related needs as appropriate Work with individuals who may have a range of physical, cognitive, behavioral, and communication needs Specific physical demands and environmental conditions may vary based on transportation needs and assignments.
