About the Role

The Company is seeking a Senior Counsel, Assistant General Counsel with a focus on Environmental and Sustainability Policy and Strategy. This senior attorney will be responsible for leading the legal and policy strategy in the areas of environmental regulation, sustainability, low-carbon fuels, and carbon markets. The role involves serving as a key advisor to various internal stakeholders and requires the ability to connect policy, law, commercial strategy, and market opportunity. The successful candidate will be instrumental in translating complex regulatory and market developments into clear business guidance and will have a major focus on protecting and growing the company's carbon abatement and sustainability value. Applicants must have a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school, active bar membership, and a minimum of 15 years of experience in environmental policy, with a strong background in carbon markets and/or carbon market policy. The role demands a proven track record of advising commercial teams on the impact of policy and carbon markets on market opportunities, product design, and contract structure. A working knowledge of U.S. and international low-carbon fuels frameworks and voluntary carbon market standards is essential. The ideal candidate will also have experience in sectors such as sustainable aviation fuel, biofuels, carbon capture and storage, renewable natural gas, or carbon dioxide removal, and prior engagement with relevant regulatory bodies. The position requires a strategic thinker with the ability to influence policy outcomes and engage in external advocacy.
