IT Program Manager

IT Program Manager | Location: Remote | Contract | Hourly Pay Range: $80-$99

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Program Manager to lead a large-scale information security initiative. This role involves providing strategic oversight and coordination across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with organizational security objectives and operational priorities. The ideal candidate will bring senior-level program leadership skills and a proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional IT and security programs in a remote work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Designs and implements program governance frameworks, decision-making processes, controls, and escalation paths across IT and stakeholder groups.
• Develops and maintains an integrated program roadmap, schedule, milestone plan, dependency register, and implementation approach.
• Oversees program budgets, tracks costs, monitors resource utilization, and supports financial forecasting and reporting.
• Identifies technical, operational, security, and organizational risks; analyzes project interdependencies; and develops mitigation or corrective action plans.
• Manages and coordinates resources, vendors, personnel, and priorities across multiple concurrent work streams.
• Facilitates collaboration among technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, information security personnel, and executive sponsors.
• Tracks deliverables, decisions, issues, risks, and action items to maintain program momentum and transparency.
• Produces regular program reports, providing clear status updates, recommendations, and decision points to leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Proven senior-level experience leading complex, cross-functional IT or information security programs.
• Experience coordinating initiatives in areas such as IT Helpdesk, Data Center operations, Data Networking, or Information Security, including on-premises and cloud-based systems.
• Strong knowledge of current information security concepts, technologies, risk management practices, and security program delivery methods.
• Demonstrated expertise in program governance, executive reporting, vendor coordination, budgeting, schedule management, and risk/issue tracking.
• Familiarity with project management tools, collaboration platforms, dashboards, and documentation practices.
• Excellent leadership, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively engage technical teams and executive leadership.
• Work experience in higher education is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with security frameworks, compliance standards, or enterprise-level IT environments.
• Prior remote work experience with the ability to manage distributed teams and stakeholders effectively.
