Job Title Registered Nurse – Surgical Short Stay Location Wilmington, NC | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every other weekend required (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday nights) Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to adult surgical patients on a 12-bed Surgical Short Stay unit, primarily post-PACU admissions with stays under 24 hours Care for pre-operative patients and inpatient surgical admissions as census and acuity require Manage patients across multiple surgical service lines including colorectal, endoscopic, general, gynecologic, maxillofacial, neurologic, orthopedic, plastic, urologic, and vascular Operate specialized equipment including CBI, Doppler ultrasound, BD Alaris Infusion System (Large Volume Pump and PCA Module), JP drains, Medela and Prevena Wound Vac Systems Float as needed to inpatient surgery floors, inpatient holding areas, or medical floors Be available to report to work as assigned during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or declared disasters as part of Storm/Hurricane Team assignments Required Qualifications Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission) ACLS certification required BLS certification required Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience required Short stay nursing experience required Must be able to work holidays; expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays during the contract Candidates located within 50 miles of the facility are eligible; a lower rate applies for local candidates Preferred Experience / Skills Charge nurse experience preferred Experience with EPIC electronic health records preferred Why Join Us First-time travelers are welcome to apply, making this an excellent opportunity to begin a travel nursing career in a structured surgical environment Work in a specialized short stay setting with exposure to a broad range of surgical service lines and patient populations Concentric Healthcare Staffing Job ID 786527.
