Maintenance Mechanic

Position Summary The Maintenance Mechanic maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs production machinery and facility equipment in a metal clad manufacturing plant. The role helps ensure equipment operates safely and reliably, minimizing downtime while supporting production, quality, and plant safety requirements. Key Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment, including rolling, bonding, leveling, slitting, forming, and material-handling systems. Troubleshoot mechanical failures involving bearings, gearboxes, motors, belts, chains, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and related components. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance according to schedules and work orders. Respond to equipment breakdowns and coordinate repairs with production and other maintenance team members. Read and interpret equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, schematics, and work instructions. Use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and shop equipment safely and effectively. Assist with equipment installations, modifications, alignments, and commissioning. Document maintenance work, parts used, equipment condition, and follow-up needs in the plant’s maintenance system. Identify recurring failures and recommend practical improvements to equipment reliability and safety. Maintain an orderly maintenance shop and ensure tools and parts are stored properly. Follow lockout/tagout, machine-guarding, hot-work, confined-space, and other applicable safety procedures. Coordinate with electrical, controls, production, and engineering personnel as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred. Experience as an industrial maintenance mechanic, millwright, or similar role in a manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial equipment. Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and use basic measuring tools. Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safe work. Welding, machining, rigging, or computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) experience is an advantage. Physical and Work Environment Requirements Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, temperature variation, oils, and greases. Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and lift tools or components as required, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and work scheduled shifts, including overtime or call-ins when needed. Success Measures Equipment is maintained and repaired safely and effectively. Maintenance work is completed and documented accurately. Equipment downtime and repeat failures are reduced.
