Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant & Tax Preparer with at least 1 year of experience in accounting and tax preparation. In this role, you will work closely with individual and small business clients, preparing tax returns, maintaining financial records, and ensuring full tax compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations.
• Perform general accounting duties, including bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliations using QuickBooks.
• Review client financial statements, general ledgers, and supporting documents for accuracy prior to tax filing.
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for small business clients.
• Help compute quarterly estimated tax payments and research basic tax issues or regulations as needed.
• Communicate with clients to gather necessary tax documentation, answer routine accounting inquiries, and provide regular updates.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in accounting and tax preparation (public accounting experience is a plus).
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Software Skills: Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., UltraTax, Drake, CCH, or ProSeries) and accounting software (QuickBooks, Excel).
• Active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) or ability to obtain one prior to start.
• Strong knowledge of basic GAAP, federal/PA state tax rules, and local tax requirements.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple client deadlines during peak tax season.
