Palliative Medicine Physician (Advanced Heart Failure Support)
Lee Health Heart Institute is currently seeking a Palliative Care Physician to join the Advanced Heart Failure Center at HealthPark Medical Center in Fort Myers, Florida. The Advanced Heart Failure-Specialized Palliative Care Physician will be working alongside the cardiac team of AHF cardiologists and cardiac surgeons and joining the Palliative Care team that consists of four physicians and 13 APRNs. Candidates for this position will be interested in doing coordinated care, medication & chronic symptom management, end of life management, as well as goals of care discussions. The primary patient population for this role will be heart failure; this includes hospitalized patients in cardiogenic shock supported with ECMO, Impella and left-ventricular assist devices, as well as consultations of ambulatory patients in Advanced Heart Failure Center, however there will be some responsibility for general medical/surgical and oncology patients as needed to support the overall team and community. This is a newly established Advanced Heart Failure program and a great opportunity for someone with an interest in development, program growth and out of the box thinking with a high focus on exceptional patient care to join the team and assist with this strategic redesign process.
Requirements:
- MD/DO with fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine (BE/BC)
- Active Florida License, or the ability to obtain this prior to start date
- Active, Unrestricted DEA
- Current BLS Credentials thru the American Heart Association
