As a Lead Guide, you will recruit and develop the team that executes this model—coaching Guides, cultivating leadership, and establishing an environment where students routinely surpass expectations. This is not an instructional coaching position, nor is it traditional classroom teaching. You will not spend time reviewing lesson plans or observing lectures, because neither exists in this model. Instead, your focus will be on building a high-performance culture by coaching Guides, facilitating impactful life skills workshops, and inspiring students to pursue and achieve ambitious objectives. Your effectiveness will be measured by the caliber of student experiences, team performance metrics, and your capacity to uphold rigorous standards while motivating others to meet them. What You Will Be Doing Coaching Guides to reliably deliver outstanding student experiences while upholding Alpha's rigorous standards. Facilitating dynamic life skills workshops that build communication, leadership, focus, and other practical competencies for K-12 students. Inspiring students to pursue challenging learning objectives and maximize growth within their self-directed academic programs. Leveraging data, direct observation, and coaching dialogues to enhance Guide effectiveness and student results. Supporting the launch and establishment of new Alpha campuses by cultivating a culture rooted in excellence, accountability, and ongoing improvement. What You Won’t Be Doing Teaching conventional academic classes or delivering subject-specific lectures. Creating lesson plans or developing curriculum materials. Reducing standards to provide students with superficial success rather than guiding them toward genuine mastery. Leading a team remotely from an office without directly coaching students and Guides on a regular basis. Maintaining outdated methods simply because "that's how it's always been done." Youth Program Manager Key Responsibilities Guarantee that every student consistently receives Alpha's three promises by developing high-performing Guides, delivering compelling life skills experiences, and upholding rigorous standards for student achievement. Basic Requirements Willingness to work on-site at an Alpha campus (relocation assistance provided): Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton, FL; Miami, FL; Miami Beach, FL; Boston, MA; Raleigh, NC; New York City, NY; Orange County, CA; Santa Barbara, CA Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience in education, coaching, learning and development, or a comparable leadership role. Proven experience leading and developing teams of five or more individuals, including responsibility for hiring and performance-based termination decisions. Track record of using data to drive measurable performance improvements. Experience working with children ages 5-14 in an educational, coaching, or developmental context. Experience establishing or launching a new team, program, business, school, or initiative, with readiness to help open a new campus from the ground up. Willingness to operate within a school model that rejects traditional lecture-based instruction. Legal authorization to work in the United States. Nice-to-have Requirements Experience coaching youth through athletics, debate, camps, or extracurricular activities. Outstanding public speaking and storytelling abilities. A history of achieving exceptional results in academic, professional, or athletic pursuits. Experience driving teams toward ambitious goals while sustaining high accountability standards. A commitment to challenging traditional education paradigms and contributing to a new vision for K-12 learning.
