This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.As a member of the Mass Properties team, you will perform functional and timeline analyses, conduct detailed trade studies, and perform mass properties requirements allocation to transform customer and product needs into precise hardware and software specifications. You will delve into system hardware and environmental conditions to identify and optimize mass properties solutions, leveraging advanced solid modeling, database tools, and standard office applications. Your expertise will directly support the successful achievement of critical program requirements.Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Supporting the implementation of a Mass Properties Management and Control ProgramAccurate estimating and optimizing of mass properties to achieve vehicle performance and fulfill weight based program metricsEstablishing specification and design target weightsSupport the maintenance of the Mass Properties accounting and reporting systems to inform the customer and management of current and projected mass properties trendsProviding mass properties data for cost analyses and vehicle design and analysisEvaluating subcontractor proposals, interacting with and overseeing subcontractor mass properties management and controlReviewing drawings to achieve mass properties management and controlMeasuring/weighing vehicle and/or components to increase vehicle weight estimate accuracy Providing mass properties data in support of operational flight manualBasic Qualifications:This requisition may be filled at a Principal Mass Properties Engineer (Level 3) OR Senior Principal Mass Properties Engineer (Level 4)level based on the qualifications below.Principal Mass Properties Engineer (Level 3)Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related professional/military experience.Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related professional/military experience.Must have an active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.Experience with mass property and weight and balance analysis.Proven ability with Society of Allied Weight Engineers (SAWE) Recommended Practices (RP) 7 and 8.Senior Principal Mass Properties Engineer (Level 4Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related professional/military experience.Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related professional/military experience.Must have an active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.Experience with mass property and weight and balance analysis.Proven ability with Society of Allied Weight Engineers (SAWE) Recommended Practices (RP) 7 and 8.Preferred Qualifications:An active US Government Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).Aircraft Weight and Balance CertificationAutomated Weight and Balance System (AWBS) experienceExperience in vehicle design and manufacturing techniquesSiemens NX or CATIA proficiencyFamiliarity with electrical harness weight estimation and calculationFamiliarity with a Common Product Lifecycle Management system such as SmarTeam or TeamcenterPrimary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
