Estimated Start: 08/05/2026 Location: West Zephyrhills Elementary School, 37900 14th Ave, Zephyrhills, FL 33542 Specialty: Early Childhood Programs - Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program (VPK) Grade Level: Age (4-5) Instructional Position, 196 Days Per Year, Full Time, Benefit Eligible Job Summary Responsible for providing responsive care, effective teaching, and an organized learning environment that promotes healthy development and children's school readiness skill growth aligned with Head Start and state standards, including children with disabilities. Education, Training & Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Early Childhood Education/Child Development OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education/Child Development OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the field of Elementary Education One year of experience teaching preschool-aged children Certificates, Licenses & Registrations Florida Educator's certificate in Early Childhood Education, Prekindergarten/Primary, or Preschool Education Completion of 15-hours of state-required Emergent Literacy Course and Implementing the Florida Standards in Preschool Classrooms: 3 Years Old to Kindergarten OR Completion of Reading Endorsement Competency I and Implementing the Florida Standards in Preschool Classrooms: 3 Years Old to Kindergarten Satisfactory completion of First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course for infants and toddlers within 3 months of hire Preferred Requirements Reading Endorsement preferred. Candidates with a Reading Endorsement or who are willing to sign an agreement to earn an endorsement may be prioritized for hiring. Other Requirements All hires must meet the Early Childhood physical examination requirements. Current and former parents or guardians of children served by the Head Start program will receive preference for employment in Head Start vacancies for which they apply.
