Position Overview Ivy Tech Bloomington is seeking a full‑time nursing instructor to support our afternoon/evening clinical schedule. The instructor will provide in‑person quality instruction across multiple delivery methods and formats. Flexibility is required to support clinical disciplines such as med‑sug, lab, pediatrics/OB, and mental health. Salary and Contract Salary Range: $60,000 for a 9‑month academic contract (August–May). Summer contracts are optional and may be 25%–100% of the base salary. A 100% summer contract equals one‑third of the 9‑month base salary. Essential Functions I. INSTRUCTION Deliver assigned classes using effective pedagogy and technology, in accordance with college loading policy, course objectives, and program learning outcomes. Develop and maintain curriculum and supporting course materials aligned with course objectives and program learning outcomes. Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grades, and other documentation as required. Manage a classroom environment conducive to learning, adhering to federal, state, and college safety standards. Facilitate student achievement of expected program learning outcomes. Use the Learning Management System (e.g., IvyLearn) to support teaching, learning, assessment, and communication. Ensure knowledge of and implementation of emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments. II. RETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESS Provide academic coaching and monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff. Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, using technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions, including communication, tutoring, and referrals to college resources. Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with campus expectations and the faculty loading policy. Promote and assist student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means. III. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Participate in professional development activities such as scheduled training, onsite visits to related industries, and self‑study to advance instructional and technical skills. Engage in scholarly activities related to the discipline/focus in fulfillment of annual performance plans and certification requirements. Stay current in contemporary pedagogy, digital technology, and other tools that best support student learning. IV. COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND BUSINESS OUTREACH Participate in community service activities on behalf of the college to advance relationships within the service area. Develop community, industry, and business contacts to support college relationships in the service area. V. INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT Provide institutional support as requested by college administration, including committee and task‑force participation, accreditation projects, and grant initiatives. Attend commencement and participate as assigned by campus administration. Participate in college/campus‑wide meetings and departmental/school/faculty meetings. Participate in career service and alumni activities, and support the program/department chair in program management. Adhere to college and campus academic policies. Qualifications Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse. Current, unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse license. Majority of faculty hold master’s degrees in nursing (MSN). Faculty with bachelor’s degrees must: Within one semester of initial appointment have a written academic plan for completion of a master’s degree. Provide ongoing documentation each semester demonstrating progress toward a master’s degree. Continued employment without a master’s degree is contingent upon documented progress toward the approved academic plan. Flexibility to support afternoon and evening clinical schedule.
