Job Title: Shift Team Lead

Job Description

The Shift Team Lead coordinates and supports daily plant and warehouse operations, including production, shipping, receiving, material movement, and order fulfillment. This is a hands-on, floor-based leadership role that requires active participation in day-to-day activities such as operating forklifts and clamp trucks, moving and staging materials, supporting production, and assisting with shipping and receiving. The Team Lead ensures that the shift runs safely, efficiently, and accurately, in alignment with production schedules and customer requirements, while becoming proficient in all aspects of the operation, including machine processes, order pulling and staging, shipping, receiving, bills of lading, routing, inventory movement, and AS400 transactions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support daily plant and warehouse operations, including production, shipping, receiving, material movement, and order fulfillment.
• Ensure the shift operates safely, efficiently, and accurately in alignment with production schedules and customer requirements.
• Actively participate on the plant floor, operating forklifts and clamp trucks and assisting with production, warehouse, shipping, and receiving activities as needed.
• Become proficient in all operational processes, including machine operations, order pulling and staging, shipping, receiving, bills of lading, routing, inventory movement, and AS400 transactions.
• Direct employees during the shift, providing clear guidance and leadership while holding the team accountable for performance and safety.
• Maintain accurate information and transactions in AS400 and ensure proper documentation for inventory and shipping activities.
• Communicate effectively with employees and management in both English and Spanish to support smooth operations and resolve issues.
• Take ownership of shift performance, follow issues through to resolution, or properly communicate and escalate concerns before leaving the facility.
• Properly close and secure the facility at the end of the shift, confirming work completion, safe equipment and work areas, adherence to shutdown procedures, and building security.
• Maintain a hands-on, floor-first leadership approach and step into any area necessary to support operations and meet customer requirements.
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic, dependability, accountability, and consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Use RF scanners and other warehouse tools to support inventory control, order accuracy, and efficient material movement.
• Provide responsive and professional customer service related to shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment activities.
• Collaborate with team members and management using Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel to support communication, scheduling, and reporting.

Essential Skills

• Ability to lead and supervise production and warehouse teams in a hands-on environment.
• Experience with inventory control and production supervision in a plant or warehouse setting.
• Proficiency in shipping and receiving processes, including order pulling, staging, and documentation.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and clamp trucks as part of daily operations.
• Skill in using RF scanners for inventory and order management.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to direct employees and hold the team accountable.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate information and transactions within AS400.
• Proficiency or the ability to quickly become proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, accountability, and consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and make sound decisions during the shift.
• Capability to properly close and secure a facility, ensuring safe conditions and adherence to shutdown procedures.
• Professional attitude with integrity, good judgment, initiative, and respect for others.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish with employees and management.
• Experience in a non-climate-controlled warehouse or plant environment.
• Previous experience in customer service related to logistics, shipping, and receiving.
• Comfort with a hands-on, floor-first leadership style, stepping into any area necessary to support operations.
• Familiarity with routing, bills of lading, and inventory movement processes.

Work Environment

The role is based in a non-climate-controlled warehouse and plant environment, working Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m. The position is fully floor-based, with regular use of forklifts, clamp trucks, RF scanners, and AS400 systems, as well as Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel for communication and coordination. The work involves active movement throughout the facility, material handling, and close collaboration with production and warehouse teams in an industrial setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plant City, FL.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Plant City,FL.
