Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.Job SummaryThe Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining and caring for the parish's outdoor property, including landscaped areas, parking lots, walkways, and sacred spaces such as prayer gardens, statues, and cemetery grounds (if applicable). This role helps ensure the church campus reflects the beauty, reverence, and hospitality central to the Catholic faith.Job ResponsibilitiesMaintain lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds, and landscaped areas (mowing, trimming, edging, fertilizing)Care for and respectfully maintain religious features such as statues, grottos, shrines, Stations of the Cross, and memorial areasAssist with upkeep of parish cemetery grounds (if applicable), including mowing, trimming, and general appearanceRemove debris, leaves, and litter from all outdoor areasMaintain sidewalks, entrances, and parking lots for safety and cleanlinessPerform seasonal duties: snow and ice removal in winter, leaf cleanup in fall, planting and mulching in spring/summerMonitor irrigation systems and ensure proper watering of groundsOperate and maintain landscaping equipment safelyAssist with setup and cleanup for outdoor liturgical events (e.g., processions for Easter, Palm Sunday, Corpus Christi)Ensure outdoor areas are safe, accessible, and welcoming for parishioners and visitorsReport maintenance issues, hazards, or vandalism promptlyJob RequirementsExperience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or facility maintenance preferred. Ability to operate lawn care and maintenance equipment. Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift moderate weights. Basic knowledge of plant care and seasonal landscaping practices.
