Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Perform routine and complex clerical duties to resolve patient inquiries regarding insurance billing, account adjustments, and financial arrangements while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Address and resolve patient complaints and correspondence regarding insurance billing, account adjustments, and refunds.
• Verify insurance status, eligibility, and general account details; process courtesy billing for patients.
• Forward billing to appropriate insurance carriers to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.
• Reconcile refund accounts, attach appropriate documentation, and coordinate with bookkeeping for processing.
• Safeguard protected health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1+ years of medical billing and collections experience required (2+ years preferred).
• Knowledge of medical billing/collections practices, basic medical coding, and computer data entry.
• Preferred: EPIC applications experience; bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
