Shipping Office Clerk
Location: Mason, OH
Pay: $17.50 - $19 based on experience
1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM
Temp to Hire Opportunity!
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle all will-call customers, assisting pickups by verifying orders and ensuring a smooth, professional experience.
- Manage a variety of duties related to the control of will-call, customer orders, shipping, and receiving.
- Arrange LTL shipments with carriers, including rate quoting, scheduling pickups, generating BOLs, and coordinating freight class and pallet details.
- Process customers’ special deliveries and coordinate customer shipment times.
- Prioritize and manage warehouse pick and load queues to keep orders flowing efficiently and meet delivery commitments.
- Track drivers and deliveries in real time, communicate status updates, and resolve delivery issues with drivers as they come up.
- Run end-of-day reports for loaders to verify truck shipments are accurate, along with daily operational reports (open orders, shipment status, productivity, and similar).
- Follow up on customer service errors, bad ship dates, and incorrect order entry, and rectify any issues.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation with a high level of attention to detail.
- Communicate with customers, drivers, sales, and warehouse staff to keep everyone aligned on order status and timing.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Transportation Manager.
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years in a fast-paced traffic, shipping/receiving, or warehouse environment preferred.
- Strong customer service skills and a professional, helpful demeanor.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, including strong data entry skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and stay organized under pressure.
- Comfortable with computers and able to learn new systems quickly.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a warehouse environment.
Preferred Experience:
- Working knowledge of AS400 preferred (not required), with strong, accurate data entry skills.
- Experience with Samsara (ELD/telematics) for driver and delivery tracking is a plus.
- Prior flooring experience helpful.
- Familiarity with LTL carriers and freight processes.
