CNC Machinist

This role focuses on operating CNC mills and lathes to produce precision parts while maintaining quality and efficiency. You will edit CNC programs directly at the machine, manage multiple machines simultaneously, and support various production areas as needed. The position involves working with SolidWorks-based workflows and requires strong blueprint interpretation and machining skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components according to specifications and tolerances.
• Edit CNC programs at the machine to meet part tolerances and optimize machining performance.
• Monitor and keep 2–4 CNC machines running at a time, adjusting based on the run times of each part.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to set up and run jobs correctly.
• Float between multiple positions and departments to support production needs as required.
• Operate an overhead crane to safely move materials and parts when needed.
• Perform fabrication tasks, including operating a press brake and saw, as required by production schedules.
• Inspect parts during and after machining to ensure they meet quality standards and dimensional tolerances.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop safety practices.
• Lift and handle materials and components weighing over 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Collaborate with another operator and cross-functional team members to meet production goals and deadlines.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of CNC machining experience; relevant schooling or technical training is acceptable.
• Hands-on experience operating CNC mills.
• Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes.
• Ability to edit CNC programs at the machine to achieve required part tolerances.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience reading and working from blueprints or schematics.
• Proficiency in blueprint and schematic interpretation for machining setups and operations.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks-based workflows or CAD models used in machining processes.
• Ability to operate an overhead crane safely and effectively.
• Experience with press brake operation and general fabrication tasks.
• Experience with saw operation in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Ability to regularly lift more than 50 lbs as part of daily duties.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Overhead crane experience beyond basic operation is a plus.
• Forklift experience is preferred and considered an advantage.
• Comfort working across multiple positions and departments in a production environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
• Solid problem-solving skills for adjusting programs and setups to meet tolerances.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with another operator and broader team.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on manufacturing environment where you will primarily work alongside one other operator and assist other departments as needed. The standard schedule runs from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, with overtime available on Fridays. Work involves operating CNC mills and lathes, overhead cranes, press brakes, and saws in a shop setting. The role requires regular lifting of more than 50 lbs and adherence to safety practices. Steel-toed boots are required as part of the dress code.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, ND.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
