Patient Support Specialist / Medical Assistant

Location: Lakeland, FL 33803
Duration: 15 weeks

Pay Rate: $22 – $24/hr

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and patient-focused  Patient Support Specialist / Medical Assistant (PSS/MA) with front-office experience to support daily clinical and administrative operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills, experience interacting with patients, and the ability to efficiently manage front-office responsibilities in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule and confirm patient appointments, check-ups, and physician referrals.
• Answer incoming telephone calls and direct calls to the appropriate staff members.
• Greet patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
• Assess the purpose of each visit and direct patients or visitors to the appropriate staff or department.
• Compile, organize, and maintain medical charts, reports, correspondence, and other patient records.
• Complete patient  electronic check-in and check-out procedures.
• Collect patient  co-pays and process payments accurately.
• Provide general front-office administrative support as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow applicable healthcare privacy and organizational policies.
• Communicate effectively with patients, clinical staff, and administrative personnel.
• Support efficient patient flow and overall office operations.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience as a  Medical Assistant (MA) or Patient Support Specialist in a healthcare setting.
• Front-office medical experience required.
• Experience with patient scheduling and appointment confirmation.
• Experience with electronic patient check-in/check-out.
• Experience collecting co-pays and processing patient payments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.
