Oncology IV Room Day Shift Pharmacist

The Oncology IV Room Day Shift Pharmacist is responsible for overseeing sterile compounding operations and ensuring the safe, accurate, and compliant preparation and dispensing of intravenous medications in accordance with USP standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.

Location: 100 percent onsite in Knoxville TN (UT Medical Center)

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee sterile compounding activities, including IV admixtures of hazardous and non-hazardous medications and required regular cleaning.
• Verify and process IV oncology medication orders for appropriateness, accuracy, compatibility, and stability.
• Ensure compliance with USP 797, USP 800, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Triage and delegate compounding across pharmacy technician team.
• Perform final verification of compounded sterile preparations prior to dispensing.
• Supervise and support pharmacy technicians involved in sterile compounding.
• Maintain quality assurance, environmental monitoring, and compounding documentation.
• Provide drug information and collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care.
• Participate in medication safety, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Assist in inventory and ordering.

Qualifications

• PharmD or BS Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
• Current unrestricted pharmacist license in the appropriate state of practice.
• Sterile hazardous compounding experience preferred.
