Description

Position Summary:

Enhances the member experience, engagement, and satisfaction; along with supporting the Healthy Living Department staff; serve as a nutrition expert for the association and community.

Essential Functions:

1. Builds effective relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
2. Improves the health and well-being of the community the YMCA serves.
3. Conduct nutrition classes and cooking demonstrations throughout the Y and surrounding community.
4. Facilitate support groups in areas not limited to weight loss, behavior change and diabetes management.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
2. RD and LD/N credentials are required.
3. Should have experience in group facilitation, presenting, counseling and cooking.
4. Must have an outgoing, friendly personality.
5. Must have the ability to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner.
6. Must have the ability to relate to a diversity of ages, cultures and backgrounds.
7. Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED
8. YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire (available through Y University).

Physical Demands:

1. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
2. Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
3. Acceptable hearing (with or without correction).
4. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
5. Ability to audition and perform skills necessary to lead others in a group fitness environment.
