Summary

Duties

• You will function as as the first layer of defense in a security-in-depth concept to deter detect delay assess respond defeat and document unauthorized access to Navy installations and property and locations designated as restricted areas.
• You will perform installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures written orders and regulatory requirements as a guide to assess determination for a wide range of unique circumstances.
• You will exercise a high degree of professionalism tact courtesy and firmness in the performance of all force protection duties.

• Within the Department of Defense (DoD) the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States drivers license.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760 Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
• You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-4 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Experience demonstrating the ability to clearly and effectively articulate and present directions.
• Experience receiving authenticating and vetting visitors entering an installation.
• Experience utilizing techniques to regulate traffic flow.
• Experience applying knowledge of firearm usage and related issues such as ammunition range regulations maintenance and safety.

This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

The position often requires irregular hours (overtime shift weekend holiday work rotating hours etc).

This position is subject to an initial drug screening and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e. start date). The selectees inability to successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or final job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment. You may be required to sign a Drug Test Statement of Understanding if you are selected for this position.

No PCS costs will be paid.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
