Core Competencies Strong relational leadership and volunteer development skills Organizational and systems-thinking ability Pastoral heart with operational follow-through Ability to recruit, train, and sustain healthy volunteer teams Clear communication and teaching facilitation skills Cultural leadership that fosters unity, excellence, and care Comfort managing databases, registrations, and attendance tracking Job Summary The Serve Director provides leadership, oversight, and pastoral care for all serve teams and serve opportunities at the assigned campus. This role exists to help people take meaningful next steps in serving, ensure healthy and effective volunteer teams, and cultivate a culture of excellence, care, and engagement across all serve environments. The Serve Director also supports pastoral care functions and oversees prayer request management, contributing to the overall spiritual health of the church. Key Responsibilities Serve Oversee serve teams and serve opportunities, including, but not limited to: Team recruitment, leadership development, and training Serve registrations, attendance, and other database requirements Development of teams in the following areas: Guest Experience (Host, Usher, Parking), Prayer, Prison, and any other teams deemed necessary to create an excellent guest experience Help facilitate and oversee the process of assimilating new people onto serve teams Help maintain and develop a healthy culture amongst all of our serve teams including, but not limited to guest experiences, next gen and worship teams. Other Facilitate and/or teach at experiences and programs designed to help people engage in serving and engaging in the church. These include, but are not limited to: Serve Team Orientation Core Assist with pastoral care responsibilities as needed at the assigned campus, including, but not limited to completing Pastoral Assessments Oversee the management of all online prayer requests Required Qualifications Education Four-year bachelor's degree is preferred Additional ministry or seminary training is ideal Completion of Cultivate Leadership Institute or some similar leadership training is preferred Experience 3+ years attending Definition Church, an ARC Church or something similar 3+ years serving in a position of leadership 3+ years leading groups or teams Speaking/Teaching experience (from 10-200 people) Performance Metrics & Expectations Growth and health of serve teams Volunteer engagement, retention, and leadership development Effective onboarding and assimilation of new volunteers Accuracy and consistency of serve-related data and systems Quality and consistency of serve opportunities and guest experience Timely and organized management of prayer requests and pastoral follow-up Work Environment & Schedule On-site, campus-based role Regular weekday hours with required weekend availability Sunday serving and leadership responsibilities are considered part of the role Occasional evening commitments for trainings, orientations, and serve events Growth & Career Path Future opportunities may include expanded campus leadership responsibilities, serve systems oversight, or broader pastoral leadership roles, depending on gifting, performance, and church needs.
