A healthcare setting specializing in Long Term Care (LTC) and Mail Order pharmacy services is seeking an experienced pharmacist for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM over a 26-week period, with the potential for permanent placement. The position demands a detail-oriented professional capable of managing a variety of pharmacy functions in compliance with regulatory standards and patient care protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
• Monitor patient medication compliance and detect over-usage to ensure safe use.
• Verify that prescribed medications are appropriate and lawful.
• Maintain confidential and precise patient records and pharmacy files.
• Provide patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, and drug interactions.
• Offer additional health services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
• Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications for internal and external use, preparing sterile products as necessary.
• Supervise and collaborate with pharmacy technicians, clerks, and other staff.
• Manage pharmaceutical inventory to meet patient needs effectively.
• Communicate drug-related issues with physicians and interdisciplinary health care providers.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Pennsylvania Pharmacy License required.
• Experience in Long Term Care or Mail Order pharmacy settings strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, patient care standards, and medication management.
• Excellent communication and supervisory skills.
