Staff Attorney

Tenants' Rights Attorney Legal Services of Greater Miami seeks a mission-driven Staff Attorney to join our team. This role provides direct legal representation and engages in systemic litigation and projects across multiple practice areas, handling cases in state and federal courts at trial and appellate levels, including litigation, administrative matters, and transactional work where assigned. Reporting to the Unit Director, the Staff Attorney protects client rights, advances justice, and supports the organization’s mission to serve low-income communities. The position is in the Tenants' Rights unit, assisting tenants in private, public, and subsidized housing facing eviction, illegal lockouts, or living with serious housing conditions. We work every day to strengthen our community and move toward a more just and equitable South Florida. What You Would Do Conduct client interviews, assess legal issues, and recommend case acceptance. Investigate legal problems, research law, and analyze facts. Counsel clients, help define goals, and guide them through the legal process. Negotiate with opposing parties and manage cases efficiently. Engage in community education, outreach, and professional development presentations. Collaborate with attorneys, support staff, and community organizations to address client needs. Adhere to Legal Services’ policies and Florida Bar rules. Perform related duties to support overall organizational success. Maintain reliable transportation and occasional travel to evening or weekend events. Engage in desk work and computer use; may involve lifting up to 15 pounds. Who We’re Looking For Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required. Member of The Florida Bar, The Federal Bar, or admission within the time specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Minimum of one year of experience in a related field. Strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Legal Services of Greater Miami. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in word processing, email, and internet use. Able to follow directions, work independently, and manage time effectively. Collaborative team player with integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment. Skilled at working with diverse staff and clients. Passionate about racial and economic justice and serving low-income communities.
