University of California San Diego La Jolla, CA US DESCRIPTION The Department of Theatre and Dance at UC San Diego invites applications for a tenured Associate Professor of Acting, beginning July 1, 2027, with instruction starting Fall 2027. The successful candidate will lead a rigorous two-year graduate acting progression while teaching undergraduate courses. The position emphasizes practice-based foundational acting techniques, with secondary expertise in Shakespeare and/or heightened text. Experience in acting for the camera is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a strong record of impactful creative work in acting and contribute to production, recruitment, casting, curriculum development, committee service, and mentorship of MFA and undergraduate students. The department seeks a collaborative, innovative leader to advance its acting program and contribute to its partnership with Tony Award-winning La Jolla Playhouse. Applicants must hold an MFA or have five or more years of equivalent professional experience and/or relevant training, plus five or more years of university or studio teaching experience.
