Mott MacDonald is currently involved in several major infrastructure projects in the rail and transit realms. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, experienced individual to complement our team and assist with infrastructure assignments for public and private-sector clients. This role may also include direct embedment with our client. Responsibilities Support the design of rail infrastructure, including track and alignment, under the guidance of senior engineers Assist in preparing calculations, technical documentation, engineering drawings, reports, specifications, and cost estimates Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to support coordinated, high-quality design deliverables Review design documents for consistency and coordination with supervision Help coordinate with stakeholders, including railroads, municipalities, and other entities, with guidance from senior team members Participate in verbal and written communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, partners, and clients Learn and apply technical software and design workflows to support project delivery Contribute to proposal preparation and supporting materials as needed Perform assigned design tasks with increasing independence while seeking guidance when appropriate Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related technical field from an accredited university 0–2 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design (rail, trackwork, or roadway design exposure preferred) Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or working toward obtaining licensure Familiarity with Bentley design software (OpenRail, OpenRoads, or similar) is a plus Basic understanding of rail alignment and/or transportation design concepts preferred Excellent interpersonal skills, including organization and attention to detail Proactive self-starter who’s also flexible and able to adapt and learn Confident and positive attitudeDesire and flexibility to travel across the state a plus Strong written and communication skills Based on project needs, random drug testing may be required A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required for this position Benefits & Reward At Mott MacDonald, our employees have a stake and a voice in our business, providing them with a direct connection to our success through our personal and group performance bonuses.
