You make a difference.SENIOR WELD ENGINEERPosition SummaryThe individual will oversee and drive all weld department process improvement initiatives through to completion, assist production in achieving a smooth and efficient flow of product through the weld shop, and identify new areas for process improvement. Additionally, you will identify the root cause of weld defects to generate appropriate corrective action. You will also be responsible for maintaining existing procedure and performance qualifications to Navy standards, assisting quality with welding related audit activities and working with Sales on job estimation. You will provide technical review of contracts for Weld procedures.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESCreate, check and correct weld process instructions & recordsServe as a single point contact for all technical questions regarding welding from welders and production personnelWrite new & update existing WPS, PQR & WPQ documentsOversee and drive new welding procedure qualifications from initial design through performance, testing, documentation & submittalAssist Quality with Maintenance of Welder Performance QualificationsAssist Quality with internal & external welding auditsGenerate weld time & material estimates for complex welding jobsImplement process improvements for existing workDevelop novel welding processes for improving quality / efficiencyDesign & build tooling / work aids as necessary for process improvementCANDIDATE PROFILEKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesGood knowledge and understanding of Sciences and basics of weldingAbility to interpret engineering drawings and technical specificationsPrevious welding experience in the Military or Nuclear industriesFamiliarity with Military Welding Codes (MIL-STD/Tech-Pub View phone number on job-api.jobget.com)Familiarity with SMAW, GTAW, & GMAW weld processesExperience with welding of Ni and Cu-base alloys is a plusProficient with MS Office applicationsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE4-year degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering with a Focus on Welding, or Metallurgy5+ years of Industry experienceOtherU.S. CitizenCOMPANY BACKGROUNDCIRCOR International is one of the world’s leading providers of mission critical flow control products and services for the Industrial and Aerospace & Defense markets.
