If you're a defense-side litigator looking to build a long-term career in a sophisticated healthcare litigation practice, this opportunity offers two paths in: a junior track for attorneys with 1–4 years of experience ready to grow into the work, and a senior track for attorneys with 5–8 years of experience ready to take on real second-chair responsibility. Southern California candidates are preferred, but fully remote candidates anywhere in the same time zone are welcome.

 

What's in it for you? You'll work directly under an experienced healthcare litigation partner, handling contract disputes, provider litigation, and overpayment recovery, with deep-dive claims analysis and arbitration preparation at the center of the practice. The role is 100% remote, with a base salary of $125,000–$180,000+ DOE on the junior track and up to $225,000 for a strong senior-track fit, plus a $10,000 bonus at 2,000 billable hours and an additional $10,000 for every 100 hours thereafter.

 

What You'll Bring

• Junior track: 1–4 years of litigation experience
• Senior track: 5–8 years of litigation experience, with second-chair capability
• Defense-side litigation experience, including insurance defense, preferred; no plaintiff-side, workers' comp, or lemon law backgrounds
• Strong legal writing, sound judgment, and the ability to bill time
• Diligent, dependable, and able to work independently while staying personable and responsive
• Active California Bar membership in good standing

 

The Role

• Handle contract disputes, provider litigation, and overpayment recovery
• Conduct deep-dive claims analysis across large datasets
• Draft motions to compel and dismiss, and handle extensive discovery
• Manage a large docket of 200+ active cases with high responsiveness
• Focus on arbitration preparation and behind-the-scenes legal work
• Second-chair trials and arbitrations (senior track)

 

The position is 100% remote, with candidates required to remain in the same time zone. The annual billable-hours requirement is 1,800 hours, with bonuses triggering at 2,000 hours. The team is open to 2–3 annual team lunches and a holiday party.
