Elevator Mechanic Helper (Des Moines, IA) Location: Des Moines, IA (Travel Required) Full-Time | Skilled Trade | Elevator Industry Career Path We are hiring an Elevator Helper Mechanic to assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial elevators, lifts, and accessibility systems. This is a hands-on field role in the elevator industry, working alongside experienced mechanics on install, modernization, and service projects. Responsibilities: Assist with elevator and lift installation and repair Support mechanical and electrical troubleshooting in the field Work on elevator doors, rails, hoistways, and control systems (assisted) Service commercial elevator systems in construction and occupied buildings Complete job documentation and follow safety procedures Participate in on-call emergency service rotation Requirements: Mechanical and electrical aptitude (field experience preferred) Experience with elevator systems, escalators, lifts, or commercial install work strongly preferred Ability to work at heights and lift up to 100 lbs Valid driver’s license Willingness to travel regionally (up to 1 week at a time) DOT physical card (or ability to obtain) OSHA 10 preferred This is NOT a general maintenance or manufacturing role.
